BIO
With formal education in voice, violin, jazz history, music theory, and theater to go with her B.A. from the Art Institute of Seattle in Music Production & Engineering, LaBaw knows her way around a studio. Her EP “Ready Chief” (released under the name Anahata Sound on Gypsypop Records) features artists as diverse as Killah Priest and Benny Green. In spring 2012, she released the self-titled “Hopscotch” with features from Sleepyhead and remix by Danny Corn & Christopher Norman. In March, collaborating with fellow Bay area producer Releece, she put out her first single of 2013, “Emotion,” and received almost 7000 plays and 500 downloads in 1 week. With several other tracks in the works, look for further explorations from Hopscotch this year.
In addition, Hopscotch also knows her way around a stage. When touring as “Anahata Sound” LaBaw toured as a member of The Funginears as well as electronic music project Hot Pink Purple with Russ Liquid (RLS). Since then she has toured extensively in North America, Canada, Europe, Egypt, and numerous festivals internationally.
This recording and performance background allows Hopscotch to convey to audiences what she describes as “the tender joy and sexy reality of humanity”. Hopscotch will be busy in 2013 with an all new album; national tour with new visuals, and a slew of high profile official remixes.
